چکیده

We consider incompressible, viscous fluid confined in a rectangular cavity. Both the bottom and top walls are made of thin membranes. Traveling waves with the same amplitude and frequency but opposite phase are transmitted in these membranes and induce peristaltic motion in the fluid. The induced velocity profiles are determined analytically for small-amplitude waves (ε) and numerically for waves of any amplitude. The analysis consists of a perturbation expansion in terms of the wave amplitude (ε) up to O(ε2). Solutions for large-amplitude oscillations are obtained through the use of a finite element code that employs a moving grid. The numerical code is verified by critically comparing the simulations' predictions with analytical results.

Investigation of Natural Convection in a Vertical Cavity Filled with a Anisotropic Porous Media

In present paper, a numerical analysis for a rectangular cavity filled with a anisotropic porous media has been studied. It is assumed that the horizontal walls are adiabatic and impermeable, while the side walls of the cavity are maintained at constant temperatures and concentrations. The buoyancy force that induced the fluid motion are assumed to be cooperative. In the two extreme cases o...

Effect of Insulated Up and Down Lid Motion on the Heat Transfer of a Lid-Driven Cavity with an attached fin

This study investigates the effect of lid motion on the optimal characteristics a thin rectangular fin attached on the hot wall of a square lid-driven cavity with active vertical walls. The optimal fin position is studied for Richardson numbers of 0.1-10. The effect of mounting a rectangular fin with a thermal conductivity of 1 and 1000 on minimization and maximization of heat transfer through ...

The problem of photon creation from vacuum due to the nonstationary Casimir effect in an ideal one-dimensional Fabry–Perot cavity with vibrating walls is solved in the resonance case, when the frequency of vibrations is close to the frequency of some unperturbed electromagnetic mode: ω w = p(πc/L 0)(1+δ), |δ| ≪ 1, p = 1, 2,. .. (L 0 is the mean distance between the walls). An explicit analytica...

A Characteristic-based Solution of Forced and Free Convection in Closed Domains with Emphasis on Various Fluids

In this paper, forced and free convection in the cavity is simulated numerically with complex boundary conditions. Temperature changes sinusoidally at the upper and right walls and the temperature of the other walls is kept at zero. The effects of Prandtl and Grashof numbers variations on flow patterns are surveyed. A wide range of materials, e.g. molten metals, gases, water, and coolant liquid...

Squeezing and photon distribution in a vibrating cavity

Abstract. We obtain explicit analytical expressions for the quadrature variances and the photon distribution functions of the electromagnetic field modes excited from vacuum or thermal states due to the non-stationary Casimir effect in an ideal one-dimensional Fabry–Perot cavity with vibrating walls, provided the frequency of vibrations is close to a multiple frequency of the fundamental unpert...
